Green School Newsletter
St. Joseph’s N.S. Woodford
November 2015

Hi Everyone,
The Green School’s Campaign is back. Our Green School’s coordinator this year is Miss Gaffey. To date we have been awarded six Green Flags. This new school year brings a new theme in order to obtain a 6th Green Flag for our school. This year our theme is Global Citizenship – Litter and Waste. We will be in touch with you during the year to let you know how you can help us with our most recent challenge.

We continue to use the hazardous boxes in school, so please continue to bring in your used batteries.

Remember not to throw litter around because we want to keep the school grounds clean. Remember also to use the correct bins for your rubbish.

Along with keeping the school clean we must also keep in mind our most recent themes of ‘Energy Conservation’ and ‘Water Conservation’. Remember to turn off lights and any other electrical appliances when not in use. Turn off taps fully and report any dripping/leaking taps

In other news!!!
Congratulations to all our students who participated in The Manning Cup in Loughrea. Our 5th & 6th class girls finished 3rd in the Cross Country Competition. Congratulations also to Caoimhe Farrell who won her race.

Congratulations to those 4th/5th/6th class students who were recently awarded certificates for participating in The Shorelines Festival. Samantha Stanley finished 2nd and Clíona Page finished 4th in the Story competition. Caitlín Page finished 4th in the Poetry competition.

We will start practising for our Christmas play soon and are looking forward to performing for you in a few weeks!
